 "Worst Iron Ever" 2009-07-14
By Coffee Nut in Texas (New Braunfels, TX)
I own a longarm quilting business and make quilts. I use my iron a lot. My first Rowenta 6650 iron I purchased in February 18, 2008. It started leaking out of the bottom of the iron. It was still under warranty so I sent it to Rowenta's replacement dealer in California. They determined it could not be repaired so they sent me a new iron which I received in October 2008. The new iron is now leaking in the same area as the first.

I called Rowenta customer service and they were no help at all. Needless to say I will not be purchasing a Rowenta iron in the future. I just purchased a Oliso.

 "Excellent iron" 2009-06-01

I've looked a very long time for a good, heavier-weight iron with NO auto-shutoff. I really like this iron. The temp stays constant. As I piece quilts I need it to stay on for longer periods of time. It is great, too, for the regular ironing of clothes.

 "rowenta iron" 2009-04-04
By Karen M. Burns (Sacramento, CA)
The iron was shipped out fast, my old one finally "blew up" and the switch was not working. I do a fair amount of sewing, ironing, back to sewing, back to iron board type work and I was looking for an iron that had NO auto shut off. This fit my requirements!

 "I love this iron!" 2008-10-24

It gets super hot, it doesn't shut off in the middle of a sewing project, and it's light weight. Who could ask for more? Worth every penny.

"This iron is a toots!" 2008-09-27

I nicknamed this iron the, "Wonder Iron", because you wonder where your ironing went when using it - it IS that much faster than your conventional off the shelf irons in the discount stores!! I've never had a pricier iron but I will never look back after using the DX6650. It is a good, dependable little iron. Any wrinkles just disappear. Creases are crisp. No water spewing out on fabric. This is a dress down model, (my preference), but it still has a self clean feature. **One thing about Rownenta Irons** I feel it is necessary to mention to anyone thinking about purchasing one. Some are made in Germany, some are not. Pay attention and you will be able to notice the differences. In my opinion it is well worth a little more $$$ for the German manufactured. Aw, go ahead and buy one, you will never regret it and you will have more time for yourself. I am thinking it has cut my ironing time in something like half, but now ironing is so much more enjoyable I am ironing more items than I had before. I just can't say enough good about this DX6650 Rowenta iron.

 "Excellent Iron . . . while its working . . ." 2009-07-07
By UofC95 (Atlanta, GA)
I purchased this iron approximately 3 years ago, because I value a quality iron. After using it, there is no question in my mind that Rowenta makes a very effective iron product. The problem is that it only lasted 3 years . . . I was expecting an investment in a quality appliance to last at least 5 - 7 years. This is a disappointing result and I'm not planning on buying a Rowenta to replace this one.

 "short Life" 2009-04-26
By R. Murphy (Simi Valley, CA United States)
This product developed a faulty power cord after only a year. The auto off function is directly linked to the position of the power cord and the thing would only stay on if the cord was untwisted and swiveled in a certain position. After about a year and a half the iron stopped turning on altogether.

If it had lasted longer the iron would have been great. It is heavy with a stainless steel face that stayed relatively crud free.

 "Fantastic iron!!!" 2008-09-22
By J. Garrett (Idaho)
Growing up in Germany, I only buy genuine German irons. This Rowenta certainly holds up to the company's reputation. It's heavier than a "normal" American iron, but that helps when you want a sturdy crease on your sleeve or pant leg. Definitely a great iron for under $100.

"Rowenta Duo - LEAKS all of the time" 2008-09-06
By Lillian K - (North Texas)
this iron has leaked from day one. It leaks when I am pressing, It leaks when I set it on the heel. I have contacted the manufacturer, but all I got was some "canned" response. The suggestion was of no help. For a "highly rated" product with a price tag to match, this iron has finally hit the trash can after 2 1/2 years. My replacement???? A Black and Decker for $39. It has not leaked once. So price is not always a good indicator of quality......

Thanks,

"This is a great Iron!" 2008-08-11
By Jose Zakany (Los Angeles, CA)
I researched irons for about a week before deciding to buy the DX6900 over the much reviewed Black & Decker 2000. I liked the extra power it offers (1700) and that it was made in Germany. The unit is very well made and inspires confidence.

After using it for about 3 months, all I can say is that it is the best iron I have ever had. We have a cleaning lady and she loves this iron too. It heats up very quickly with its 1700w of power, and this makes a big difference when you have to use the pro steam feature. The DX6900 is one of the more powerful irons in this price range. The pro steam feature is very good. The steam output is fantastic and really gets the job done. The steam feature can only be bested by pro level irons like the Rowenta DG503.

If you use your iron a lot and prefer not to have the auto-shut off feature then get the Rowenta DX6650, which I believe is essentially the same iron without the shut-off mechanism.

About the leaking problems that I have read about: I have not got any leaks in mine. I do store my Iron upright and I put bottled drinking water in it, not distilled water, which is not recommended by Rowenta. If people have experienced leaks it may be do to one of these reasons.

When ironing with steam this Iron is superb, and can press most clothes with one pass.

Highly recommended.
